Doug Jones wants you to know that he would play a hemorrhoid in a Guillermo del Toro film if asked, that he would follow the visionary “Hellboy” director anywhere he chooses to go. Doug Jones also wants you to know that he hopes that includes “The Hobbit,” del Toro’s next project. Most of all, though, Doug Jones wants you to know that he isn’t officially cast in that movie, that there’s nothing on paper, that anything and everything could change, and that to state or otherwise imply otherwise would be premature at best and plain wrong at worst.

And we wouldn’t dare go against any of these desires. Except, well, there’s one tiny thing more Doug Jones also wants you to know:

“There’s been lots of speculation. I wouldn’t want to ruin anything. Guillermo creates things with me in mind and he’s got a better image of what I can do than I do,” the man otherwise known as the Silver Surfer and Abe Sapien told MTV News, a wicked and knowing smile across his face. “However, there might be an elf king, father of Legolas kind of character that I would love.”

That would be King Thranduil, king of the Silvan elves in the northern part of Mirkwood, where Bilbo and his company of dwarves spent a large portion of their time towards the end of the novel. Known simply as the ElvenKing throughout “The Hobbit,” Thranduil gets into it pretty fiercely with Thorin over the Arkenstone, a fight that isn’t resolved until, well, until his son Legolas and Gloin’s son Gimli become friends during the events of “Lord of the Rings.”

Last year, we explored the possibility of Legolas appearing in “The Hobbit” with Orlando Bloom.

But for now Doug Jones wants you to know just one more thing.

“Guillermo definitely needs to make ‘The Hobbit,’ and he needs to make it right. So I want him to take his time on that,” Jones said. “But I also want him to bring me in on it. Are you listening Guillermo?”

She’s a feminist ideal, a fierce warrior as capable with a sword as any man, spurred by love to do battle with the deadliest of enemies, a soldier who sometimes needs to conceal her true identity from even those closest to her.

You wanna know what else The Bride (from “Kill Bill”) and Eowyn had in common?

They were both almost played by Uma Thurman.

“Yeah, I was asked,” Thurman confirmed to MTV News of an offer from Peter Jackson to play Eowyn in the second and third films in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. “I had a small child at the time and I couldn’t go away for a year. I was just too attached to home. It just caught me at the wrong moment.”

In our never-ending quest in “what if” casting, Thurman isn’t as big, perhaps as Sean Connery for Gandalf, or Nicolas Cage nearly nabbing the role of Aragorn -– but, then, Thurman is unique in actually regretting her lost opportunity.

“I wish I had done it,” she confessed.

So do we. The role of Eowyn isn’t a substantially large one, of course, but the payoff? Getting to kill The Witch King of Angmar? Belting the line “No living man am I!” C’mon! That’s awesome.

For her part, Thurman couldn’t agree more, admitting that she was a “huge” fan of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels.

“Oh I truly wish I could’ve been able to take that plunge and maybe I should’ve,” she revealed. “But I just couldn’t at the time.”
