One of the best parts of being an entertainment journalist is getting a vote in the annual Golden Raspberry Awards, and this year’s nominees once again offer a welcome opportunity to strike back at all the really, really bad movies we had to sit through in the past year.
The 28th annual nominations are led by free-falling film star Lindsay Lohan, whose “I Know Who Killed Me” landed her nominations as both Worst Actress and Worst Screen Couple (since she played twins in the flick). Topping her, however, is Eddie Murphy in “Norbit,” nominated for Worst Actor (as his character Norbit), Worst Supporting Actor (as Mr. Wong), Worst Supporting Actress (as Rasputia) and Worst Screen Couple. Could Murphy follow up last year’s Oscar nomination with a sweep of acting Razzies?
Other big names being taken down a few pegs include Nicolas Cage (Worst Actor in “Ghost Rider, “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” and “Next”), Nicole Kidman (”The Invasion” and “The Golden Compass”), Mandy Moore (”Because I Said So”) and Orlando Bloom (”Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”). Worst Picture nominees include “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” “Evan Almighty,” “The Reaping” and “Bratz: The Movie” (whose four leads were also grouped together for a Worst Actress nom).
Some of the more eccentric (and thereby most entertaining) nominees include Worst Screen Couple “Dustin Hoffman and Don King’s Hair” for “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,” “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem” as “Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie,” and another Worst Couple nomination for Jessica Alba and any of her 2007 leading men (Dane Cook, Ioan Gruffudd or Hayden Christensen).
HELP! My ballot is due in on the 12th, and there are so many bad movies to choose from that I can’t make up my mind. Also, since the Razzies are at the nomination stage, write-ins are acceptable. So post your thoughts on the worst actors, actresses and movies of 2007 below!
