Annina: Oh, monsieur, you are a man. If someone loved you very much, so that your happiness was the only thing that she wanted in the world, but she did a bad thing to make certain of it, could you forgive her?
Rick: Nobody ever loved me that much.
Annina: And he never knew, and the girl kept this bad thing locked in her heart? That would be all right, wouldn’t it?
Rick: You want my advice?
Annina: Oh, yes, please.
Rick: Go back to Bulgaria.

Joy Page, possibly the last surviving cast member of “Casablanca,” was just 17 when she landed the part, despite the reluctance of her stepfather, studio chief Jack Warner. The daughter of silent star Don Alvarado (aka Don Paige and Don Page, he toplined the first three-strip Technicolor short, “La Cucaracha”) and a Russian-Jewish mother, Joy’s exotic beauty also graced the 1944 Technicolor remake of “Kismet” starring Ronald Colman and she ended her acting career by playing opposite Leslie Nielsen on the Disney TV series “The Swamp Fox.” She was married for years to actor William T. Orr who co-starred with Elia Kazan in “Thieves Fall Out” but was far better known as the “Wm. T. Orr” who headed Warners’ TV division in the ’50s and ’60s. Their son, Gregory Orr, directed an excellent documentary on his step-grandfather.
