The polls close Saturday at 5 p.m. for the Oscar nominations in one of the most confusing years ever. Here’s my latest round of predictions in the major categories. It seems to me the titles with the biggest forward momentum are “Juno” (which has been the top-ticket seller every day since Sunday) and “There Will Be Blood,” which is doing far better business than anyone could have expected. Perhaps the biggest surprise will come in the fifth slot for Best Actor. I’m guessing that Viggo Mortensen will replace my previous choice, Denzel Washington, but it could just as easily be Emile Hirsch of “Into the Wild.” I’ll update after the Golden Globes (see post below for a link to my predictions there).
